Whether I’m hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas for my extended family, one of the first things I do is plan the table. Recently dabney lee AT HOME sent me some of their HOT holiday items to review…….monogrammed paper placemats and a personalized laminated placemat. Placemats are one fun and creative way to spruce up your holiday table…..especially when you can pick your own style, color, and personalization.

One of the great holiday picks this year are the Monogrammed Paper Placemats, which come in sets of twenty-five (25). They are the perfect size at 11 x 17 – not too big as to interfere with the food items, and not too small either. You design your own set by picking from a multitude of colors and style swatches (including some limited edition ones). Then you can choose a monogram or a nameplate with various designs.

I was sent 2 paper placemats to review, both with bold, bright colors. One was personalized with a name, Sally, at the right-hand bottom corner and would be perfect for a large gathering of family and friends. The other had a personalized name plate that said “Say Thank You”, a wonderful reminder for kids. Just think, you could personalize them to say anything…….Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, or Eat Your Peas!!! The paper is quite thick and sturdy and would hold up to small spills of food well. $40 for a set of 25.

My personal favorite was the laminated placemat. I was sent an adorable children’s placemat with a monkey design on it. It’s extremely durable, easy to clean, and best of all,  it’s reusable. An added surprise was that the placemat design was printed on both sides…….I hadn’t expected that at all.

We’re just now in the process of moving from the highchair to the table, so we are loving the laminated placemat……and we REALLY needed it too! With a circle in the middle of the placemat the size of a plate, this is also helpful for teaching kids where everything should go….plate, fork, knife, etc. $18 for a laminated placemat.
